A Centre of Excellence in Defence R&D Canada - Ottawa

DRDC Ottawa is one of six research centres of Defence R&D Canada, an agency of the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND). It provides world-class support to its clients through the expertise of its scientific staff supported by the test and analysis capability offered through its numerous test beds and modeling and simulation facilities.

DRDC Ottawa performs advanced scientific research in a number of key defence technology areas such as: electronic warfare, space communication and surveillance, terrestrial radio and wireless communications, navigation, advanced radar, radiological effects and sensing, and information operations and network security.

DRDC Ottawa has a long history of excellence in scientific research contributing to the success of Canadian military operations as well as providing innovation opportunities through long-range technology investigation and forecasting. DRDC Ottawa performs R&D activities on behalf of the primary DND client groups: Land, Maritime, Air, and Command & Control Information Systems, providing Scientific Support, Engineering Support, and Test and Evaluation Services.

Open for Business

The DRDC Ottawa R&D program includes collaboration, partnering, fee-for-service and technology transfers to leverage and expand internal programs. Although all DRDC Ottawa products have a defence application, many of the technologies and facilities also have applications in civilian markets and can be made available on contract to universities, industry, other government departments and international allies.

Furthermore, DRDC Ottawa's close links with other Defence R&D Canada centres and Federal Research Centres provide opportunities for multidisciplinary solutions.
